1985年、大阪府箕面市生まれ。同志社大学経済学部卒業、ニューヨーク大学大学院映画学科修了。大学院卒業制作『小春日和』('14)でテヘラン国際短編映画祭グランプリ、新人監督映画祭グランプリ、クイーンズ世界映画祭最優秀短編作品賞、札幌国際短編映画祭最優秀国内作品賞など国内外で15の賞を受賞。同作品はイギリスのレインダンス映画祭やフランスのクレルモンフェラン国際短編映画祭など、世界15カ国38の映画祭でも上映された。スパイク・リー監督の制作会社「40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks」を経て、現在はAOI Pro.に所属。ショートフィルムや広告映像を手がけるかたわら、『小春日和』の長編版脚本にも取り組んでいる。

Toshimichi Saito (Director, Writer)

Born in Osaka, Japan in 1985, Toshimichi Saito received a B.A. in Economics from Doshisha University in Kyoto and an M.F.A. in Filmmaking from New York University Tisch School of the Arts. His thesis short film, 'A Warm Spell' ('14), won 15 awards worldwide, including the Grand Prix at Tehran International Short Film Festival, the Grand Prix at New Directors Film Festival in Tokyo, the Best Narrative Short at Queens World Film Festival and the Best National Short Award at Sapporo International Short Film Festival. The film also screened at 38 film festivals in 15 countries, including Raindance and Clermont-Ferrand. After working for Spike Lee as his assistant editor, he returned to Japan to work on his new short film projects as well as a feature-length version of 'A Warm Spell.' He now works at AOI Pro., Japan's leading commercial & film production company.
